Aurellia Nelson, known by her cultural name Hamalakame’ga, is a Kwakiutł artist, designer, and cultural storyteller whose work bridges traditional teachings with contemporary fashion. As the founder of Premium Culture Club, Aurellia creates clothing and visual pieces that honour Kwakwaka’wakw identity, connection to land, and the living spirit of Northwest Coast design. 

Rooted on the northern end of Vancouver Island, Aurellia’s practice reflects her responsibilities to community, culture, and intergenerational knowledge-keeping. Her work blends classic elements of formline, family crests, and cultural motifs with modern streetwear and high-impact visual style. Each piece is created not only as an artwork but as a statement of visibility, resilience, and celebration for Indigenous people today.

Aurellia is also the organizer and creative force behind the Kwakwaka’wakw Annual Fashion Show, an event that elevates Indigenous designers, artists, and models while creating space for youth empowerment and cultural representation. Through this platform, she brings together artists from surrounding Kwakwaka’wakw communities, showcasing the depth, diversity, and brilliance of coastal Indigenous fashion.

Her designs emphasize authenticity, community connection, and giving back. A portion of Premium Culture Club’s work supports cultural programs, local youth, and initiatives that strengthen the Kwakwaka’wakw Nations. Each collection reflects Aurellia’s vision: to honour the teachings she carries while creating opportunities for future generations.

Today, Aurellia continues to expand Premium Culture Club into a space where culture, fashion, and storytelling meet inspiring people to wear their identity proudly, while uplifting the beauty of Kwakwaka’wakw tradition in a modern world. Aurellia currently lives on the North Island while she attends University at VIU.
